For the line length of the subject, I would more or less just use the official recommendation from the git [man page](https://git-scm.com/docs/git-commit#_discussion). That would be 50 characters.

For the line length of the body I haven't found a statement from the official git documentation. But I think most of the time 72 characters are used. A lot of tools that I worked with seem to follow that convention and use that length if they format a message.
