If I remember correctly I tried with mstrict-align and it didn't work. I would keep the code because we don't know when the misaligned access could happen.

For e51 another mod is needed, see  https://github.com/fcuzzocrea/rtems/commit/76ec318b575cb8cf7df9ca80fae0f8b8fb1b3d26

If you believe the community may benefit from this I can open a mr (i don't use HSS at all so this is why I need rtems on e51).
