No exactly. We never set NMIE and we never write to the CSRs holding the addresses to the RNMI handlers. This means the CPU will jump to the CSR reset value in our situation.

And yes once NMIE is set software cannot disable it.

The CSR numbers are also implementation defined so we would need some configuration option to have it be compatible with multiple implementations.
