Since you already have RTEMS running on the nucleo-f446re, it should be sufficient to work on this task as long as it has the pins broken out for the features you want to test. For SPI, you'll want to follow the existing form of other peripherals that can be remapped to different pins and you'll want to make all instances of that peripheral available since you'll be targeting the generic CPU BSP and not a particular board.
