Yes, more or less.  The actual implementation will have to deal with a 
lot of corner cases.

Ok, but in this case we should release 4.11 soon (weeks not months), 
since this is on my critical path.  It means also the POSIX and C++ 
support will be permanently broken in 4.11 in some areas.
