I am sorry but can you give me some suggestion about that, you mean the old i2c works on all platforms, and shouldn't be replace, so where you suggest the new one should go and how to mark the old one deprecated?

Yes, I believe the old one should be replaced by the updated version.
This is likely a stupid question. Do we have confidence that the new i2c works
