As indicated [1], please complete the GSoC Getting Started tutorial we
have created:

We'll be glad to discuss potential projects. I think this one is
actually not available during this year. If you are drawn to Python
projects though, there are other Testing and Development Ecosystem
projects that involve Python that you could look into.
