Yes, that is indeed true. Sorry, I forgot to mention I install gcc 12 
where possible. opensuse-leap 15.4 would natively use gcc 7 (and most 
likely compile the tools with it).

For Siddharth Khattar, who started this thread, this would then mean he 
should be able to build the RTEMS tools (using RTEMS Source Builder) on 
ubuntu 22.04 and them with the tools RTEMS as described in the RTEMS 
User manual https://docs.rtems.org/branches/master/user/start/index.html.
