build cross compiler help

Hello ;
   Since I have failed in compile the cross compiler for rtems(powerpc)
on NT, I
have to try to use linux. Since there are lots of linux vendors , I want
to know
which  is better and its version. I now got rtems diff files as follows.

binutils-2_9_1-rtems-diff-19990820.gz
binutils-2.9.1-rtems-diff-19981027.gz
egcs-1_1_1-rtems-diff-19990121.gz
egcs-1.1b-rtems-diff-19981028.gz
newlib-1_8_1-rtems-diff-19990121.gz
newlib-1.8.0-rtems-diff-19981027.gz

I want to know which set will work.
