I had reasonable success in light duty use on Windows ME running on a
laptop around the first of this year.

I had Cygwin on my Win95 box at home long ago. It was definitely
not a stable combination but that was also an older version of cygwin.
When I upgraded to Win98, the installed Cygwin broke
and a delete/reinstall has been on my todo list ever since.

Personally I think the Linux/VNC combination would be more reliable
for serious development. My experience with recent Cygwin on
W2K is promising but I have not had a serious tool build yet there.
