context switching during delays

I am using the hello world sample program to develop some code.
 
When I call rtems_task_wake_after(1000) it never returns.
 
I have traced it into _Thread_Dispatch where it sets rtems_ada_self to
_Thread_Heir
which unfortunately appears to be garbage - (0xa5a5a5a5).
 
Anyone have any ideas while I try to track it down???
