compiling gdb 5.0 ss

Hi,
I am trying to compile the latest ss of gdb5.0, but I had to remove an
include to get it to compile.
The problem was an include of  curses.h  on line 28 of util.c in the
gdb-5.0/gdb dir. It was saying that line 101 of  ../bfd/bfd.h was
redefining "true" and "false".
I am running on redhat 7.3 and my compiler is gcc 2.96-110.
Is anyone else have this problem.....
