help using gdb for powerpc with psim

Sorry this is real newbie stuff ;-)
but I am still having problems running
the simulator, after running psim hello.exe
or psim hello.nxe (which is the one to use?).
I get an error message from psim, like
core_find_mapping() access to unmapped address.
It produces some setup files in the current
directory, but the contents do not look right.
I then do powerpc-rtems-gdb hello.exe
target sim
load helle.nxe
run

and get messages similar to the ones from psim
