Hi Joel,

Has I already said in this list I'm porting RTEMS to i960Jx. I'm using the
gcc tools provided by oarcorp.

I plan to end my (university) project until November after that,
unfortetley, I will no longer continue to develop my port. Until then I
will continue to use the old GNU tools.

If i understand correctly the subject of your previous email i think i
answer your questions.

Best Regards,
Mário Vieira

Hi,

The i960 has been noted as deprecated by the gdb team. This means
that i960 support for the debugger and simulator will soon disappear.
As a consequence, there will be no way to easily test gcc so the
gcc team is discussing also deprecating i960 support.

So if you have any intention of using new versions of the GNU tools
on the i960, speak now.

Also note that this will slowly impact the RTEMS i960 port also.
As the i960 tools grow older and further from mainstream versions,
there will be an increasing pain associated with the i960 which
will have an impact.

Remember there is no i960 maintainer for gcc or gdb that actively
puts effort into those ports. So wanting the tools is only part of
solving this. The other part will be making sure some gcc/gdb
developer gets sponsorship.
