Sorry for not having responded earlier, but I've been and still am busy
with other topics.

Right now, you won't find ampolish3 anywhere. It's my local perl-script
I am using to generate most of the preinstall.am files inside of the
4.7-source tree.

Unfortunately, this script is not ready for inclusion into the
source-tree. Fortunately, this isn't much of a problem, because they are
rather simple and should be easily modified/extended manually. 
Also, you'll rarely find situations where you need to modify them,
because they currently only are used in common parts of the source tree
(esp. cpukit) and the only situation to change them is adding/removing
files from a Makefile.am.

Given your request, I am considering an "emergency hack", i.e. adding
the current immature script to the source-tree, where needed.
