Please, let's stay with a clear and steadily increasing numeric version
numbering and call it 4.6.5, not 4.6.4a.

Adding such "alpha" tags mean more trouble, than you initially might
think about:
4.6.4a .. alpha, prerelease of 4.6.4? 
4.6.4a .. bugfix to 4.6.4?
4.6.4a .. custom version of 4.6.4?
