Thanks guys .. case cleared up. These tests were already built as part of my

~/RTEMS/tools/i386-rtems/pc686/lib/rtems-4.7/tests$ ls

Are you perhaps confusing the little-used Posix BSP with the tests which
exercise the POSIX API mapping of RTEMS?
