Hi

The Google Open Source Program Office has announced that it will hold GSoC
again in 2019!

I encourage RTEMS users and developers to think of potential projects and
consider mentoring.
Over the years, we really have had some significant contributions to RTEMS.

Hello all,

We are pleased to announce Google Summer of Code 2019 <http://g.co/gsoc>,
the 15th consecutive year of the program.

We have announced
<https://opensource.googleblog.com/2018/11/google-summer-of-code-15-years-strong.html>
the program and the timeline
<https://developers.google.com/open-source/gsoc/timeline>, marketing
materials
<https://developers.google.com/open-source/gsoc/resources/marketing> (slide
deck, flyers), and FAQs <https://developers.google.com/open-source/gsoc/faq>
are all available. And check out our short videos
<https://developers.google.com/open-source/gsoc/videos> for students
interested in knowing where to start with the program as well as some
videos focused on Mentors and open source organizations looking to apply to
be a part of GSoC.

*Students* -- Be sure read through the Student Guide
<https://google.github.io/gsocguides/student/> in the next couple of months
to understand the ins and out of the program - it is VERY helpful! And be
sure to visit the program site February 26th when participating mentoring
organizations are announced. At that point it is in your best interest to
research the organizations that have project ideas that intrigue you and
reach out to 3 or 4 of them early, before the student application process
even starts. Communication is one of the most important parts of the
program.

*Organizations* -- If you would like to apply for the 2019 program please
start thinking about the projects you would like students to work on and
also reach out to your community members to ask if they would like to be
mentors for the program. And if you are a new organization applying to GSoC
or a new potential Organization Administrator or Mentor please look through
the Mentor Guide <https://google.github.io/gsocguides/mentor/>.
Organization applications open January 15th.

We are looking forward to another exciting year of GSoC!

You'll also notice the 2018 program has now been archived

For any questions about the programs please email us at

Best,

Stephanie Taylor
